Autodesk University Review
Back from Las Vegas
Well, we’ve just come back from our annual trek to Autodesk University in Las Vegas. If you’re not familiar with AU, it’s a mix of classes, demonstrations and exhibitions which collectively showcase what’s happening in the Autodesk world.
As Autodesk Preferred Industry Partners, Savoy are working closely with Autodesk to develop enhanced features for AutoTrack Roads that take full advantage of the Civil 3D functionality and as a result, AutoTrack was well represented in several of the Autodesk Civil 3D presentations. The features, in case you’re not aware, all stem from a dynamic link allows swept paths to be projected onto surfaces, vehicles to be animated in 3D over surfaces and the vertical clearance tool to be run on Profile Views; all of them updating automatically as the surface changes... impressive stuff!
In the exhibition hall too, AutoTrack attracted much attention. Probably the biggest draw was the latest addition to our product range, AutoTrack Junctions. Junctions is a unique roundabout design tool that lets you not only design the roundabout geometry but also, using the dynamic link to ARCADY, analyse flow and capacity in real time. The idea appears to have struck a chord with many of you who recognise how this could speed up roundabout design significantly.
The other product that was of interest to many of you was the feature, added nearly a year ago, that lets AutoTrack Roads Pro easily and accurately model bridge beam carriers, wind farm blade carriers and other vehicles with independent secondary steering.
